Job Description:
Key Role Description
Takes ownership of the plant power system by providing electrical
technical expertise and engineering support for all electrical
equipment and distribution systems. Ensures a strong focus on high
reliability of the plant’s present and future electrical
infrastructure through predictive and preventive maintenance,
electrical maintenance excellence, failure analysis, and
capital/expense budget development. Interfaces with and supports
Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Planner, Electricians, Operations,
Project Managers and Contractors in accomplishing Maintenance and
Project work.

Technical Knowledge - demonstrates the specific
skills necessary for the assignments, understands the background and
points of leverage to be effective in the role.
* Conducts system analysis studies (load flow, voltage drop, short
circuit, relay coordination, etc.) and work to correct
deficiencies.
* Develops, reviews or evaluates electrical
estimates, engineering/project scopes, proposals, equipment
specifications, one-lines, schematics, interconnection diagrams, etc.
related to maintenance, turnaround and capital projects.

Develops, maintains and continuously improves the Preventive and
Predictive Maintenance programs related to electrical systems in order
to increase the reliability of the equipment and systems.

Assists in the development and implementation of systems to collect
failure data on the plant’s electrical system. Analyzes data and
recommends improvements based on results.
* Develops computer
databases, spreadsheets and reports as necessary to track equipment
repair histories, analyze information, address nonconformity and
maintain metrics on system health.
* Provides engineering and
technical support for implementation of electrical safety improvement
projects, criticality assessments, project field safety and insurance
audits, root cause failure analysis, troubleshooting diagnostics, and
commissioning and start-up activities.
Knowledge of Work Areas and Responsibilities -
demonstrates a clear understanding of role and responsibilities within

* Reviews and modifies, if necessary, electrical equipment operation
and maintenance procedures.
* Establishes electrical equipment
inspection intervals and techniques.
* Oversees application and
interpretation of National Electric Code (NFPA70), Electrical Safety
in the Workplace (NFPA70E), OSHA 29 CFR1910, company standards (MEP’s)
and other applicable codes and standards.
* Directs and advises
the application of the company standards in electrical design,
equipment specifications, construction and testing.
* Reviews
equipment specifications and drawings for maintenance and capital
projects pertaining to equipment location, single line, area
classification and schematic drawings.
* Recommends vendors for
purchase of equipment and provide technical review of bids.

Participates in vendor on-board drawing approvals, factory acceptance
testing (FAT), and startup and commissioning activities. Requires
occasional overnight travel.
* Provides engineering and/or
supervisor assistance to crafts and/or contractors during routine
maintenance and turnaround activities.
* Acts as responsible
person for electrical systems in all MOC, PHA, Pre/Post PSSR and HAZOP
meetings.
* Maintains Electrical EP’s, Electrical Mechanical
Integrity (MI) Procedures, Electrical Master Plan, Refinery Safe Work
Practices, Electrical Area Classification, Electrical Infrastructure
Programs, and Plant Single-Line Diagrams.
* Participates in the
development of work scope for electrical equipment related to
turnaround and capital projects

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
* BS degree, Electrical Engineering
Experience:
* Wide range of experience considered: entry level
through experienced professional
* Compensation and
responsibility will be commensurate with experience level

Electrical Engineering experience in a high-risk industry such as
refining, petrochemical, or chemical processing is preferred
