Job Description:
Key Role Description
The Sr. Project Engineer oversees and supports the installation,
operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems
in the plant. Identifies, develops, and manages improvement projects
and provides engineering services to optimize equipment life and plant
profitability. The Project Engineer is responsible for many aspects of
the project life cycle including design, procurement, project
controls, estimating, document management and contractor oversight.

Technical Knowledge - demonstrates the specific

* Plan and Manage project work to achieve safety, cost, schedule and
business needs.
* Maintain accountability for all phases of the
project life cycle including scope definition, budgeting/funding,
engineering, procurement, construction and safe
executing/commissioning.
* Oversees the installation and
maintenance of mechanical equipment and ensures proper maintenance to
maximize reliability of all mechanical equipment.
* Prepares
designs, specifications and technical documentation for mechanical
engineering projects.
* Designs mechanical equipment by
interpreting process design. Participates in the selection of
suppliers and contractors. Reviews vendor design and documentation.
* Performs the evaluation and inspection of mechanical
engineering projects to ensure that standards and requirements are
met.
* Provides engineering support to Operations and Maintenance
on an ongoing basis to address daily mechanical operating
needs.

* Monitor and report on progress of
projects to all key stakeholders.
* Contribute in the development
of prospective projects of long term plans in support of the budget
process.
* Works closely with company and contract maintenance
personnel to ensure that required repairs and modifications are
completed safely and per required codes/standards using good
engineering practices, with minimum equipment downtime and in a cost
effective manner.
* Provides engineering support prior to and
during scheduled unit shutdowns, tank repairs, and emergency upsets in
order to complete all repair and modification items while minimizing
downtime and expenses.
* Works with inspection and operations to
evaluate and recommend mechanical modifications to existing equipment
and specify new equipment to improve refinery operations, efficiency,
equipment reliability, safety and environmental performance.

Identifies recurring mechanical problems in process equipment and
develops and implements solutions using accepted engineering rules and
practices.
* Works with Purchasing and vendors to specify and
requisition materials and equipment that meet company Engineering
Standards in a cost effective manner, while scheduling deliveries to
minimize process equipment downtime.
* Coordinates the detail
design development and field implementation of low cost, scheduled,
capital projects within their assigned area of responsibility.

Provides mechanical engineering support for Process Hazards Analysis
and Management of Change pertaining to process units within their area
of responsibility.
* Manages capital projects from inception
through completion.
