Job Description:

Key Role Description

Supports the Revenue and Inventory Accounting department to ensure that all finished product and feedstock transactions have been properly accounted for each month for cost of goods sold calculation. Processes payables, performs new vendor setup process and setup in Right Angle, troubleshoots pricing, analyzes contracts for deal capture and provides routine and ad-hoc reports as needed for accounting and forecasting purposes.

  • Analyzes contracts to support correct deal capture and accurate processing of product volumes.
  • Prepares journal entries monthly in support of the COGS calculation.
  • Reviews and processes invoices related to purchased feedstocks, RINs, and ancilarry charged related to COGS.
  • Retrieves and analyzes invoices and contracts to verify that correct transaction is booked.
  • Verifies tariffs, terminalling, freight, and agency fees for accuracy and application to correct general ledger codes.
  • Coordinates the flow of product accounting detail from the point of run ticket input through the processing of checks and all related monthly closing activities.
  • Assists in efforts to streamline and improve daily, weekly and monthly processes.
  • Works with the Billing department to verify that all billable tickets have been invoiced timely and according to agreements.
  • Assists in developing accurate weekly and monthly forecast for P&L.
  • Reconciles various feedstock inventory monthly to verify that all feedstocks have been accounted for properly.
  • Works with yield accounting, revenue accounting and billing to ensure accuracy of volumetric and financial accounting throughout all relevant systems.
  • Leads efforts to investigate and solve discrepancies related to revenue and inventory accounting
  • Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports and analyses for various government agencies.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly variance analysis.
  • Gathers data and prepares ad-hoc reports as needed.

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

  • 2 years minimum experience, energy industry experience preferred , preferably in oil refining. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. CPA Preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP) with reporting experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Familiarity or experience with SAP, Right Angle or other ERP system software preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all of Role Specific Competencies.
