Job Description:

Key Role Description

Manages the optimization, planning, and scheduling functions of the refinery. Provides daily supervision to the refinery’s Economics & Planning team (short-term focus) and supports the Delta Fuels Team with creation/implementation of longer-term plans and business development initiatives. Monitors refinery economics, identifies optimization opportunities, maintains awareness of refinery capabilities/ performance (process unit & logistics assets), and successfully communicates these to all levels of refinery and commercial stakeholders.

Role Specific Competencies

* Supports the economic evaluation and processing plan for refinery feedstocks.
* Performs and/or verifies LP studies that form the basis for refinery projects, turnaround planning, and business development opportunities.
* Communicates economic drivers to refinery operations/maintenance groups to improve daily refinery operation or prioritize return of out-of-service equipment.
* Provides regular updates to the Delta Fuels Team regarding refinery operation and future constraints that need to be incorporated into monthly production plans.
* Responds to unexpected outages of refinery production units. Identifies oil flow/inventory constraints, suggests alternative processing methods, and facilitates the development of plans to return to normal operation.
* Provides regular production updates and forecasts to the Financial Planning & Analysis group.
* Performs analysis of refinery operation to generate summary of differences between planned and actual refinery performance.
* Identifies, quantifies, and maintains database of lost profit opportunities.
* Supervises the refinery Economics & Planning team and supports them in the creation of optimized process unit targets, blending plans, and movement schedules.

Knowledge of Work Areas and Responsibilities - demonstrates a clear understanding of role and responsibilities within specific area, flexible and agile in adapting to changes or exploring opportunities and challenges.
* Stewards the creation of an optimized refinery operating plan.
* Effectively communicates economic drivers and expectations for refinery performance to multiple teams throughout the refinery.
* Refinery operation & upsets sometimes require communication with Refinery personnel during off-hours, weekends, and holidays in order to manage refinery inventories and modify planned outbound shipments.
* Learns other job functions within the group when necessary in order to provide coverage during personnel vacations or other absences.
Communications - Verbal and Written - includes written and verbal communications, delivers presentations and has good listening skills.

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

* 10-15 years engineering/business planning/operations experience in a petroleum fuels refinery with knowledge of refinery LP modeling and scheduling systems preferred.
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or any other related degree is required.
* Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, Yahoo Messenger, Petro LP platform, Refinery scheduling software (PW Pro), and RightAngle.
* Demonstrated proficiency in all of Role Specific Competencies.
