Job Description:

Key Role Description

Leads a team of Field Safety Professionals to achieve exceptional safety performance. Works with the Line Organization to provide support and consultation to achieve compliance with all company policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Develops, implements, and sustains Health & Safety (H&S) programs & standards to drive incidents and injuries to "zero". Participates in teams and may lead or facilitate committees or sub-teams. Motivates employees and contractors establishing personal pride and ownership in a world-class refining safety culture.

Role Specific Competencies/Responsibilities

* Act as Field Safety Team Leader and Subject Matter Expert for H&S systems, standards, and procedures.
* Works directly with leadership, operations and maintenance employees to provide coaching, mentoring and resolution of safety related issues and concerns.
* Engages work force to think proactively and mitigate potential hazards.
* Ability to promote H&S best practices to achieve compliance within all areas of the business.
* Develops and facilitates training, safety meeting topics and safety notices for employees and contractors on issues related to health and safety compliance.
* Participates in Pre-job Planning and Safety Reviews for high-risk work activities, recommend safe work practices and PPE requirements.
* Leads or participants in Root Cause Investigations to identify corrective actions and drive improvements.
* Participates in Joint Health and Safety Committee and as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
* 10 to 15 years’ H&S experience in high-risk industry such as refining, petrochemical, or chemical processing with demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and the ability to develop and implement safety processes.
* Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related science/engineering field with Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or demonstrated competence with capability and desire to achieve certification, or equivalent level of experience & accomplishments demonstrating leadership & excellence in field safety.
* Possess excellent organizational skills and be able to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
* Excellent communications abilities, both verbal and written, to engage employees and contractors at all levels in assessing and understanding the principles of safe behaviors, conditions and preparedness.
* Strong computer skills specifically focused on Microsoft applications.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and its implementation.
